Of all the hot spots located in sunny Los Angeles, California, two of the most renowned spots can be found in Venice Beach and Universal’s City Walk. Venice Beach is not only a growing community, but an escape from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood-a mere 20 minutes away from the city, and yet, it feels almost like another world entirely. Mel Lifshitz recently took a trip to Venice and experienced first-hand the unique culture of the area. Places such as this exemplify the unique diversity of Southern California.

By contrast, Mel Lifshitz also visited the famed Universal City Walk, located right outside Universal Studios, and an escape of a different form entirely. City Walk is loud, bright, and vibrant, its own futuristic metropolis, equipped with arcades, restaurants, bars, clubs, and a giant AMC Theater, it’s hard to run out of things to do, and even harder to go to for just one day. City Walk also boasts their own attractions and shows, its own style entirely. If Venice Beach can be called a near-perfect day trip, it’s the City Walk that can claim the night. Both of these places fall under the same category-as places any seasoned tourist won’t want to miss!

Gambling, Casinos, the desert, Las Vegas is known for quite a few things, however, one you may not expect to hear about is it’s golf courses. Recently, Mel Lifshitz took a trip to one such location, for a little R&R with his nephew, and experienced the merits of the City’s golf community for himself. The “Shadow Creek Golf Course”, located in North Las Vegas, at about 60 million dollars, was developed by Steve Wynn, a casino magnate in the late 80′s from desert flatland.

Since then this Course has garnered quite the positive reputation, with its gorgeous landscape and (relatively) newly redesigned holes, this is one golf outing any seasoned enthusiast won’t want to miss!

Ferrari 458 Spider

Aside from those future models, they also had all the current models such as the Bugatti Veyron, Maybach 57s, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 458, Ferrari California Spider and the Lotus Evora as well as classic cars such as this Chevy Corvette.

There were many souped up cars such as this IQ Disco concept car and this VW microbus concept Van.  It was quite amazing to walk from building to building seeing every car imaginable- whether in production or just a concept or some futuristic model that will most likely never make it to production.

Aside from vehicles there were plenty of booths with auto related products as well as many different groups performing throughout the show.  What really stood out was the Audi display. It was a complete building built within a track. Throughout the day they had professional drivers driving around the track. The highlight of the Audi building was the R8 Roadster.

All in all it was a great trip and Mel is looking forward to going back next year.

Amidst a beautiful sea of emotions, Mel Lifshitz and dad, Daniel Lifshitz, danced through the Beis Midrash study hall of Netiv Aryeh, a Jewish learning institute for collegiate boys located in the in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem (yna.edu), celebrating the recent writing and presentation of a Sefer Torah or Torah Scroll. The crowd went wild as Mel and his father gave powerful inspirational speeches on the importance of religion, family, and identity.  The spiritually moving affair was capped off by a scrumptious feast in the Rosh Hayeshiva, Rav Aahron Binah’s Office. Also in addition to Mel Lifshitz and his parents Claire and Daniel, in attendance were various other members of the Lifshitz Family, Rabbis, Rabbinical students and other guests, all there to join in the joyous celebration.

The Group had spent the previous week visiting a long list of distinguished Rabbi’s and revered religious leaders in the Jewish Community, many of whom had shared their congratulations for the Lifshitz family, in addition to contributing the writing of the Torah. The Torah was written in honor of Rabbi Daniel Lifshitz’s birthday as a surprise, and was given to him following completion, to donate to the organization of his choice.
